Spotex Connects Execution Venue to BitGo Custody and Settlement Network

by

Spotex has connected its institutional execution venue to BitGo’s custody, settlement and prime brokerage infrastructure, becoming the latest venue to plug into the custodian’s institutional rails.

The integration lets eligible institutional clients trade Spotex’s digital asset liquidity while their assets stay in regulated BitGo custody. For brokers, hedge funds and asset managers, the point is operational: execution is kept separate from custody and settlement.

Execution and Custody Run Separately

Spotex runs the execution venue through its ECN and doesn’t act as principal on trades. BitGo’s relevant entities handle custody, prime services and settlement, including clearing and settlement broker functions and post-trade settlement between clients and liquidity providers.

Through BitGo’s Go Network, clients can allocate assets already held in custody to trade on Spotex. In this case the underlying assets stay with BitGo throughout the trading lifecycle, cutting the need to pre-fund the venue and limiting how often assets move between counterparties.

Spotex Joins an Existing Network

Rather than building a standalone custody arrangement, Spotex is plugging into infrastructure BitGo already runs for other venues. Thus BitGo provides custody and staking support for Hyperliquid, Virtu’s addition to BitGo Prime’s liquidity network, and Go Network off-exchange settlement with external venues.

In each case, BitGo supplies custody, settlement and prime infrastructure around someone else’s execution or liquidity access, while the venue itself stays responsible for the market-facing side.

Spotex says the deal isn’t exclusive: BitGo is the first digital asset custodian live on the venue. The company describes its architecture as custodian- and technology-agnostic, leaving room to add other custody providers as it builds out institutional digital asset infrastructure.

The integration follows Spotex’s recent hire of Joe Tuccio as Head of Digital Assets, tasked with growing the firm’s institutional digital asset business.

Adam Sporn, Head of Prime Brokerage and US Institutional Sales at BitGo, said institutions want more choice in execution without adding complexity across custody, credit and settlement.

For Spotex, that means a live custody connection without being locked to one provider. For BitGo, it’s another execution endpoint on its institutional settlement network.
